Following on from the great success of the UEFA Fan Park in Lisbon at UEFA EURO 2004™ and the subsequent success of the Fan Fest concept at the FIFA World Cup in 2006, UEFA has extended this concept for UEFA EURO 2008™.
There is an Official UEFA EURO 2008™ Fan Zone in each of the eight Host Cities, which is operated by the city under agreement with UEFA. This is to cater for fans that have not got a match ticket, visitors and inhabitants of the city who wish to take part in the party atmosphere of UEFA EURO 2008™.
The basic concept of the Official UEFA EURO 2008™ Fan Zones is to reflect the fact that football has moved out of the stadiums and into the cities and offer the fans something more. The official Fan Zones is located in the centre of each city and is focused on the broadcast of all 31 matches live on around 25 giant screens in total, in a secure and controlled environment, which is free of charge and where everyone is welcome. In addition there is daily fan entertainment programme, interactive activities, football skills and five a side pitches and a full range of food and beverage offered to visitors.
Sponsors have developed a wide variety of fan related activities to be undertaken in the Fan Zones.
