The term “public viewing” for the public showing of football matches on giant screens has been familiar to football fans since the World Cup finals in Germany, if not before.
Public Viewing licences will only be required for screens measuring 3m or more in diagonal. The easy-to-calculate fee is CHF10 (€6) per m² of screen and per match. Licences for non-commercial viewings - i.e. where no entry fee is charged and with no sponsors, advertising or other commercial activities – are free of charge. Licence applications will be handled online exclusively via the UEFA EURO 2008™ website from summer 2007.
If you wish to show UEFA EURO 2008™ matches to the public on a screen of over 3m in diagonal, you will be required in advance to have a UEFA Public Viewing Licence. Licences will be delivered on a first come first served basis and in priority to applications received 15 days prior to the match in question.
To apply for your licence, please use the on-line application form available here. Your application will then be automatically processed.
Only after the online payment of any relevant fee (if applicable) will a receipt e-mail, which will be considered proof of licence, be sent to you within 14 days. You must present this printed-out receipt in case of a licence check.
Separate licence applications must be made for each location. Applications may be submitted for individual matches. You can request a licence for a maximum of 8 matches per application. You must repeat the application process several times if you wish to apply for more than eight matches.
Payment is to be made on-line (MasterCard is the preferred method). Prices are inclusive of all taxes.
All public viewing licensing revenue will be used to support fan projects.
Authorisations from third parties may also be compulsory (e.g. Billag and Suisa in Switzerland, AKM in Austria).
