The Henri Delaunay trophy today arrived in Vienna, where it will be awarded to the eventual winners of UEFA EURO 2008™ in the final on 29 June.
Warmly welcomed
Kurt Ehrenberger, president of the city's organising committee, Austrian Football Association general secretary Alfred Ludwig, and Alan Ridley of UEFA Sponsorship and Event Promotion, were present to welcome the trophy to the capital as part of the EURO Experience Tour.
Quest for silver
"The trophy is unique, made of eight kilograms of sterling silver and newly designed for EURO 2008," Ridley explained before a group of international journalists in Vienna. In the coming days, the 16 participating nations will begin their quest for the cherished silverware – each determined to get their hands on the prize and raise it to the heavens at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion.
