Wayne Rooney hailed an improved defensive performance as the reason behind Manchester United FC's success as they booked their place in the semi-finals with a 1-0 win over FC Porto. "I thought we looked a lot more solid tonight," Rooney told uefa.com. "Over the last few weeks, defensively, we have been open and we've conceded a lot of sloppy goals. Tonight it was a bit similar to Barcelona [in the semi-finals] last season, where we defended very well and we nicked the goal to win the game and go through."
