UEFA/EU launch fan advice campaign
Know before you go: your rights are our goal (©UEFA)

UEFA President Michel Platini and the European Commissioner for Consumers, Meglena Kuneva, today launched an information campaign to provide millions of football fans with practical advice about their stay in Austria and Switzerland, the host countries of UEFA EURO 2008™.

Online leaflet
The campaign helps fans with a variety of problems they might face - from air travel to health insurance. An EU-UEFA online consumer leaflet is available from today at www.euro2008.com as well as on the European Commission website which you can visit by clicking here. A freephone consumer helpline will operate in all EU languages from 1 June 2008 - 00 800 6 7 8 9 10 11.

Enjoy their stay
UEFA's director of communications William Gaillard said: "We are delighted that UEFA and the European Commission have worked together to provide this new service to supporters. Together with the Fans' Embassies, the helpline and leaflet will help supporters from all countries to enjoy their stay in Austria and Switzerland."

Clear message
European Commissioner Kuneva said: "Our message is clear: as an EU citizen you have very strong consumer rights. Know them and use them. We want fans to have the best possible experience when they travel to UEFA EURO 2008™ - and understanding their consumer rights will help them greatly. This campaign is about giving people practical consumer advice. So the leaflet sets out ten things you should know before you go and the helpline is there to sort out problems for fans on the ground."

The guide offers clear answers to questions such as:
• What are my rights if my flight is cancelled?
• What sort of medical cover do I have?
• How can I find the lowest mobile phone prices?
• What should I do if I have not received my match ticket?
• What do I do if I can no longer go to a match for which I have bought a ticket?
