Sweden's Peter Fröjdfeldt and Roberto Rosetti of Italy will referee the first two UEFA EURO 2008™ quarter-finals, European football's governing body has announced.

Basel appointment
Fröjdfeldt will take charge of Thursday's match in Basel between Portugal and Germany, assisted by compatriots Stefan Wittberg and Henrik Andrén, with Greece's Kyros Vassaras as fourth official. The 44-year-old has previously refereed two games in the group stage – Netherlands v Italy in Berne and the Turkey v Czech Republic in Geneva.

Italian team
Rosetti will then be in the middle for Friday's Vienna encounter involving Croatia and Turkey, along with Italian assistants Alessandro Griselli and Paolo Calcagno and Spanish fourth official Manuel Enrique Mejuto González. The tournament's opening match in Basel where Switzerland played the Czech Republic, was handled by Rosetti, as was the Salzburg meeting of Greece and Russia. Appointments for the remaining games will be announced in due course.
