Germany midfielder Kerstin Garefrekes has extended her contract with former UEFA Women's Cup winners 1. FFC Frankfurt until the summer of 2012.

"After a hopefully successful European championship in Finland, I want to play my part in bringing back success at 1. FFC Frankfurt as soon as possible," said Garefrekes, who is part of the Germany squad at
UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ which kicks off in Finland this weekend. Frankfurt general manager Siegfried Dietrich added: "Given our goals and the World Cup in Germany, we are extraordinarily happy to have been able to keep Kerstin Garefrekes who is one of the key players in German women's football."
